Magnetism research at Shandong University has a long history and has gained a high reputation. Institute of Condensed Matter Physics was founded by combining Magnetism and Solid State physics.
Research in the institute focuses on five areas: Theory of Condensed Matter, Magnetism and Spintronics, Dielectric Physics, Applications of Ion Beams and Bionical Acoustics. The institute carries a large number of major research projects, including National High-tech R&D Program (863 program), National Program on Key Basic Research Project (973 program) and National Nature Science Fund. About 20 PhD students and 40 master students graduate from this institute each year.
